Government Avenue

We went into town to visit the SA National Gallery which is on Government Avenue. The trees were looking very wintery.



We did a quick turn around the Gallery, but there wasn't much to see. Several rooms were closed, being prepared for a new exhibition.



Afterwards we took a stroll around the precinct outside the Gallery. There were lots of people out and about enjoying the sunshine.



We walked down Government Avenue.



We passed several photo boards showing people and their bicycles.



As usual there were plenty of squirrels scampering about.



We walked back through the Company's Gardens.




I love this green space in the middle of the city. I should go there more often!

Green Point Park and a Sunset

In need of some fresh air after a busy day I went down to Green Point Park (archive here). It is such a peaceful spot...



I meandered around the Biodiversity Garden, enjoying the wintery sunshine.



Several plants were in flower, including Gnidia and Salvia.



And wild rosemary. The garden seems to be thriving!



Each time I visit the park I see new things. This time: an interesting-looking playground (still under construction behind the barriers) and an analemmatic sundial.



After my circuit around the park I walked down to the Prom at Mouille Point.



It was a rather beautiful sunset.




Once the sun had gone the whole sky turned pink.



Gorgeous!

Mouille Point Meander

Vanessa and I went for a pleasant stroll along the Mouille Point Promenade and then turned into Green Point Park to see the Biodiversity Garden.



The water levels appear to have risen, the dams were full, and the wetlands garden in particular was looking wonderful.



The creepers at the picnic area will be up those trellises in no time.



The garden is starting to lose that 'just planted' feel and is looking more established and very happy indeed.

Waterfront to Mouille Point & GPP

I was unwell for several days towards the end of last week, but was feeling better today and keen to get some exercise. So after work I headed down to the Waterfront and, after running errands, I took myself for a stroll.



From Somerset Hospital I walked along Beach Road to Granger Bay and Mouille Point.




Cape Town Stadium was on my left.



Once I got to the ocean I was grateful for the cool breeze. Such a hot day!



I didn't go along the Promenade, but I could see it was very busy.



Instead I took a turn around the Biodiversity Garden at Green Point Park. It was good to see many people there, making the most of the sunshine.



It really is a lovely spot, so peaceful. After an amble around I made my way back via Bay Road. A short sweet walk!
