Pink Skies at Sea Point Prom

It's been a while since I walked along the prom. Good to be back! The strange white horses are still there.



The beach was looking rather empty and wintery.




As the sun set the skies blazed with gold, orange and pink.

The Day Fades on the Prom

We started our walk along the Sea Point Promenade in glorious sunshine.



But the days are short now, and by the time we reached Saunders Rock and turned around the sun was gone and a chilly sea mist was coming in.




And there was a beautiful moon up above.

Green Grass on the Promenade

We had a lot of rain over Easter and Cape Town has greened up beautifully. When Dorothy and I went down to the Prom for a walk we were impressed by how lovely and lush the green lawns looked.



I've missed my regular walks along the Prom. It is good to smell the ocean at the end of the day.



This time of year the light is golden.




The public pool is on winter time, which means it is closed by 5pm. After hours it is a playground for gulls.



As we looked out to the setting sun Dorothy spotted a whale blowing.

Prom and Garden on a Windy Day

I joined my friends for a short walk along Sea Point Promenade.



We strolled past sights familiar (hello lighthouse) ...



... and new (outdoor gym?!).



We also took a turn through the Biodiversity Garden. It was a sunny day but a chilly wind was blowing, and the garden was looking a little windswept.



Pretty blue salvia, swaying in the breeze.

Colour in the Biodiversity Garden

Brenda and I have planned to walk on Table Mountain but the city bowl as blustery and drizzly. So we drove round to Green Point and went to have a look at the Biodiversity Garden instead. It was looking absolutely lovely!








I love the beds in this garden, particularly the mix of textures and colours, and also the grey foliage. I can't believe the garden was only planted last year. It is already looking so established.




After seeing the flowers we walked on to the promenade and walked a bit more beside the sea.



There is a new public art installation here: the white horses. Rather fun.



By the time we headed back the clouds had cleared and it was sunny again.

Green Point Park and a Sunset

In need of some fresh air after a busy day I went down to Green Point Park (archive here). It is such a peaceful spot...



I meandered around the Biodiversity Garden, enjoying the wintery sunshine.



Several plants were in flower, including Gnidia and Salvia.



And wild rosemary. The garden seems to be thriving!



Each time I visit the park I see new things. This time: an interesting-looking playground (still under construction behind the barriers) and an analemmatic sundial.



After my circuit around the park I walked down to the Prom at Mouille Point.



It was a rather beautiful sunset.




Once the sun had gone the whole sky turned pink.



Gorgeous!
