More info about history of the garden here
After visiting the SA Museum Dorothy and I took a quick turn around the Company's Garden. The garden dates back to the first Dutch settlers (1652) and is a pleasing, fairly formal green space, right in the heart of the city.
One of the most eye-catching features is the enormous tree aloe.
We strolled down the main walkway through the garden, and then back up Government Avenue. I definitely want to go back soon and do some more exploring. One can download a map and brochure and take a self-guided walk through the garden - see here. Sounds interesting!
