Kirstenbosch: Seasons are Changing
Date: 31 March 2012
Location: Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden
Walkers: Helen and Dorothy
The Kirstenbosch archive is here.
It's the end of March... summer is fading and autumn is in the air.
We've had a bit of rain and the streams are flowing again.
We walked into the Dell and climbed up to the garden above.
The fynbos beds are full of colour now with protea and mimetes in flower.
This was the first time I've seen this unusual leucadendron. A little rose nestling amongst the leaves.
There were also pretty pink ericas...
... and orange ones. And sunbirds!
One of the large beds at the top of the garden has been cleared. It is going to be interesting to see what gets planted here. Watch this space.
That's a perfect picnic spot under the tree.
And an explosion of gold in one of the beds.
