De Mond: View Point and Back to the Beach

Date: 5 March 2012

Location: De Mond Nature Reserve. In the Overberg.

Walkers: Helen, Ian, John and Elizabeth

De Mond archive here.

We had a good breakfast after our early morning walk, followed by some reading. By late morning the day was warming up and we ventured out again for some more exploring and swimming. We followed the same route as the day before but this time also climbed the hill on the other side of the swing bridge to reach the view site.

The short climb was well worth it. Great views in all directions. Inland...

... and estuary and ocean.

We headed down and followed the path to the sea.

Warm Indian Ocean... fantastic swimming!

And then it was a slow meander back to the cottage.

The lagoon was so heavenly we stopped to swim again.

Gorgeous. I have visited the reserve but not stayed overnight - how special to be able to leisurely explore for a few days.

I can just imagine that the estaury would be ideal for swimming on a hot day. My kids would love it.
