Sea Point Prom, Slowly

Date: 6 October 2009

Location: Sea Point

Walkers: Michele, Dorothy & Helen

Other walks on the Promenade here.

After a hectic work day I like to go down to the seaside and get some fresh air. This kind of walk is not about carrying a backpack, reading maps, following paths or getting out into the wilderness. Instead, it's about seeing friends and talking about one's day.

It's about walking a familiar route and noting the changes. (Green Point stadium nearly finished, the paving job on the promenade only starting).

It's about being near the ocean and its soothing sounds and salty smell.

It's not about the exercise or getting one's heart-rate up. Sometimes it's not even about walking! Instead it's about taking a seat on a bench, putting one's feet up, relaxing and soaking it all in.

And sometimes it's about then heading off together to Royale Eatery in Long Street for the best burgers in town :-)
